GLIP at the 30th World Congress on Medical Law

Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession (GLIP) was represented at the 30th World Congress on Medical Law, held in Antwerp, Belgium, bringing together leading professionals and experts in the field of medical law from around the world.

During the Congress, Professor Nino Lipartia, Chairperson of GLIP, was appointed as the National Representative of Georgia to the World Association for Medical Law (WAML).

As part of the Congress, Ioseb Gabaraev and Professor Nino Lipartia delivered a presentation on current issues in medical law, contributing to the international professional and academic dialogue and presenting the Georgian perspective and experience in the field of medical law.

This appointment, together with GLIP’s active participation in the Congress, represents an important international recognition and a significant step towards strengthening Georgia’s engagement with the international professional and academic community in the field of medical law.

In her capacity as WAML National Representative for Georgia, Professor Nino Lipartia will contribute to strengthening international professional and academic cooperation, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and supporting the further development of medical law in Georgia.

GLIP warmly congratulates Professor Nino Lipartia on this distinguished international appointment and wishes her every success in her new professional role.

Presentations at the congress

Professor Nino Lipartia presented “Rethinking Medical Negligence in the Age of AI: Loss of Chance Doctrine as a Response to Algorithmic Decision-Making.” Her presentation examined medical negligence and professional liability in the age of artificial intelligence, including the role of the loss-of-chance doctrine in assessing potential harm arising from algorithmic decisions.

GLIP’s programme announcement listed Professor Ioseb Gabaraev’s presentation as “Criminal Law Perspectives on Healthcare Fraud.”

The educational and professional visit was organized by GLIP to support its members’ professional development, international exchange and the representation of Georgian legal scholarship.
