Message from the Chairperson

Dear colleagues, partners and visitors,

A strong legal profession depends on lawyers who think independently, keep learning and take responsibility for the quality of their work. It also depends on a willingness to share experience and listen to one another.

That is the spirit I would like every member and partner to find at GLIP.

The challenges we meet in practice rarely stand still. Legislation develops, expectations change and familiar questions take new forms. By discussing these changes together, we can test our understanding and make better informed professional decisions.

For me, professional standards are expressed in everyday conduct: the care given to a client’s problem, the clarity of an explanation, the preparation behind an argument and the respect shown to a colleague. These habits give substance to public trust.

I would like GLIP to be a place where experience is shared generously, questions are discussed openly and new ideas receive serious attention. I welcome colleagues who wish to contribute to that work, and partners who share our commitment to the development of the legal profession.
