An independent profession. A stronger legal community.

Our work connects professional learning with the responsibilities of legal practice. Through discussion, education and cooperation, we support lawyers who want to serve their clients with sound judgment and contribute to the development of their profession.

Our purpose

GLIP works to advance professional independence, legal knowledge and ethical practice. We believe the standing of the profession grows through the quality of the work lawyers do and the trust they earn.

Learning through practice

Our activities create opportunities to examine legal developments and discuss their practical consequences. GLIP’s published programmes include employment-law workshops, criminal-law training and international study visits.

International engagement

GLIP is an institutional member of the European Law Institute. International exchange gives our community opportunities to encounter different approaches to legal problems and bring informed discussion back into Georgian practice.

Our beginnings

GLIP’s establishment was reported in 2009, at a time of debate about the position and independence of lawyers in Georgia. Professional development and cooperation remain central to the organisation’s public purpose.
