Georgian lawyers for independent profession

In modern society, the judiciary has an important and special role both in terms of resolving disputes between private individuals and in resolving relations between private individuals and the state in a legal way. The system of general courts in Georgia includes: district (city), appellate and cassation (supreme) courts. In administrative-territorial units, there is a magistrate judge institute. There is also a Constitutional Court, which verifies the compliance of any normative act with the Constitution of Georgia and controls the observance of the Constitution by officials. In addition, there are arbitration courts in Georgia, which act like common courts, although they are not part of this system.

In the modern sense, the constitution is the basic law of the state, which provides for the foundations of political, socio-economic, public organization of the country, the rights and freedoms of citizens, the system of functioning of education and state bodies, and other constitutional principles and mechanisms. It is interesting that among the constitutions of modern states, there are practically no two Constitutions that have absolutely identical content.
Code – a unified systematic legislative act adopted by the Parliament of Georgia, which regulates any sphere of public relations, such as: civil, administrative and criminal substantive and procedural codes of Georgia, tax and election codes.

The lawyer profession has a rich history and traditions in Georgia. Lawyers appeared in the courtrooms in the sixties of the 19th century and were initially called attorneys-at-law. The first associations of lawyers were also formed during this period.
June 20, 2001 can be considered as the beginning of the modern Georgian legal profession, when the Parliament of Georgia adopted the Law "On Lawyers" and thus laid the foundation for the creation of a unified organization of lawyers of Georgia as a public legal corporation.
The corps is united and joined in such a unified space as the Association of Lawyers of the State of Georgia and to which any citizen can apply for legal assistance.

"Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession" monthly and annually implements important educational projects for lawyers and legal profession specialists in the form of seminars, trainings and forums on various problematic and topical legal issues. Awareness and involvement of lawyers are important elements in the implementation of such educational projects. Practical examples, judicial precedents, consultations, working groups, meetings, trainings, expert opinions and others are a mixture of tools, the purpose of which is to build public trust in the legal profession and to increase the role of the lawyer even more.
