The Chairman of GLIP, Doctor of Law Nino Lipartia, and board member, Doctor of Law Ioseb Gabaraev, participated in the 11th International Summer School – Medical Law and Bioethics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. They presented on the legal responsibility for medical artificial intelligence systems.
Last week, the Chairman of GLIP, Doctor of Law Nino Lipartia, and board member, Doctor of Law Ioseb Gabaraev, took part in the 11th International Summer School Medical Law and Bioethics held at Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece.
Nino Lipartia and Ioseb Gabaraev presented to the international audience on the topic: "Legal Responsibility of Medical Artificial Intelligence Systems: Who is Accountable When a Medical AI Makes a Mistake?"
The presentation discussed the legal challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, distinctions between civil and criminal liability, legal evaluation of damages caused by errors of medical AI systems, as well as the scope of responsibility of doctors, medical institutions, software developers, and AI system manufacturers.
Particular emphasis was placed on the international legal and ethical frameworks, including standards by the United Nations, World Health Organization (WHO), UNESCO, the European Union, and the Council of Europe.
GLIP welcomes active cooperation and knowledge sharing in the international academic and professional space, fostering the development of international dialogue on contemporary challenges in medical law and legal regulation of artificial intelligence.

Nino Lipartia, Chairperson of Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession, participates in the 30th World Congress of the World Association for Medical Law and presents a scientific paper on medical negligence challenges in the age of AI.
GLIP participated in the Antwerp congress, where Professor Nino Lipartia was appointed WAML National Representative for Georgia and Georgian medical-law presentations were delivered.
From August 5-7, 2026, the 30th Annual World Congress for Medical Law was held in Antwerp, Belgium, featuring a presentation by GLIP Board member Lawyer Ioseb Gabaraev on criminal aspects of healthcare fraud.
