On June 15, 2024, the annual Medical Law Congress will be held in Tbilisi organized by Georgian Lawyers for the Independent Profession together with the Legal Profession Development Center and the Georgian Health Federation, addressing pressing issues in medical law with speakers from legal, medical, and academic fields.
Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession
🔹 On June 15, 2024, the annual Medical Law Congress will be held, organized by Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession, the Legal Profession Development Center, and the Georgian Health Federation.
The congress will address relevant issues in medical law, including:
🔹The right to patient autonomy;
🔹Medical aspects of informed consent;
🔹Standards for protecting doctors' professional reputation;
🔹General issues of legal liability of medical service providers;
🔹Challenges in establishing causal links in medical litigation;
🔹Aspects of liability insurance for medical workers;
🔹Contemporary challenges in providing medical services.
Invited speakers include:
🔹Irma Gelashvili - Doctor of Law, Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University;
🔹Ketevan Meskhi - Judge of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals;
🔹Nino Mamulashvili - Judge of the Civil Chamber of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals;
🔹 Natalia Motsonelidze - Doctor of Law, Associate Professor at Tbilisi State University;
🔹 Megi Sajaia - Director of the Georgian Health Federation;
🔹 Ketevan Mchedlishvili-Hedrikh - Professor at Georgian University;
🔹 Givi Javashvili - Doctor, Chair of the National Bioethics Council of Georgia, Professor at Tbilisi State Medical University;
🔹Nino Lipartia - Professor, Doctor of Law, Lawyer, Founder of the Medical Disputes Center;
Participants will include lawyers, mediators, representatives of the judiciary, medical professionals, scientific community, and medical clinics.
Part of the program time will be devoted to discussions, where participants can ask questions on medical law issues.
The event will be held in Tbilisi, at the Tbilisi Marriott Hotel;
