Georgian Lawyers for an Independent Profession: Participation in an International Conference

On October 2-3, 2025, on behalf of Georgian Lawyers for an Independent Profession and Grigol Robakidze University, Chairperson Nino Lipartia participated in the international conference titled "Covid-19 in Central and Eastern Europe: Experience and Preparedness for the Pandemic – Five Years Later", held at the John Paul II Catholic University in Lublin, Poland. Nino Lipartia presented her report in the public health, vaccination, and bioethics section entitled "Legal and Ethical Aspects of Medical Triage: Analysis of the Practice of the German Federal Constitutional Court and the Framework of European Rights". The research addressed critical issues such as resource allocation in emergency situations, patient prioritization, intersections of constitutional law and medical ethics, and legal foundations for future pandemic preparedness. The event included participation from lawyers, healthcare specialists, and medical professionals from Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Lithuania, Croatia, Poland, and other countries. The conference's main themes were national legal responses and emergency management, public health system reforms, digital technologies and rights in the pandemic era, vaccination policies and bioethical challenges, and future pandemic preparedness. The conference reaffirmed that an effective response to pandemic challenges requires addressing complex legal and ethical issues underlying healthcare safety.
