Georgian lawyers and the Legal Profession Development Center organized an educational visit to the European Union Intellectual Property Office and participated in an international conference on intellectual property judicial practice.

Organized by Georgian Lawyers for an Independent Profession and the Legal Profession Development Center, from April 24 to May 1 this year, an educational visit was held at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

During the visit, participants attended by special invitation the international conference “Intellectual Property Judicial Practice 2024.”

At the conference, judges of the General Court of the European Union, representatives of the European Commission, members and chairpersons of the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) Board of Appeal, as speakers, discussed legislative changes and future reforms in the field, as well as significant court decisions related to trademarks and designs. Invited experts spoke about the possibility of establishing a unified copyright system of the European Union, while representatives of the public and private sectors discussed existing challenges in the field.

The director of the Legal Institute of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) reviewed deficiencies in the judicial system and outlined ways to address them.
