Workshop in Rome, 23–25 May 2023

Georgian Lawyers for Independent Profession (GLIP) organised a workshop for lawyers and judges in Rome, the capital of Italy.
During the visit, participants met Professor Anna Veneziano, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), at the Institute’s headquarters. She discussed the importance and role of the UNIDROIT Principles as an effective alternative for addressing issues in international commercial relations.
Shorena Tsikaridze, a judge of the Tbilisi Court of Appeal, presented a report on the application of the UNIDROIT Principles in Georgian judicial practice.
Presentations were also delivered by UNIDROIT Principal Legal Officer Marina Schneider, Legal Officer Philine Wehling, practising lawyer Kevin Lau and Legal Officer Priscila Pereira de Andrade.
Participants also met Daria de Pretis, Vice-President of the Italian Constitutional Court, who discussed the Court’s different approaches and precedent-setting decisions.
At the conclusion of the visit, participants were presented with certificates at a formal ceremony.
