Bondo Alasania

His professional career combines many years of legal practice with substantial experience in both the public and private sectors. At different times, Bondo Alasania served as Deputy Director of the Centre for Foreign Economic and Cultural Relations at Tbilisi City Hall, worked in the administration of the Parliament of Georgia, and worked in the staff of Parliament’s Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Administrative Reform.

At the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, he headed the Department of State Registration and Public Registry in different periods and worked on citizenship, civil registration and immigration matters. He was also a member of the expert group attached to the Standing Interagency Commission on Military-Technical Issues of the National Security Council of Georgia. In the oil and gas sector, he served as legal adviser to Saknavtobi, chaired that company’s Supervisory Board, and was a member of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation.

Bondo actively participates in international professional and educational programmes in Germany and the United Kingdom focused on the study of legal practice and its core aspects. He is also engaged in studying and analysing the work and case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.

His professional work also extends to research and legal education, within which he has published papers and articles. These include work on the lawyer’s role in balancing the interests of participants in legal proceedings, the problems and challenges of Georgia’s arbitration system, equality of the parties, and other legal issues.
